The NBA 2K League has named MamaImDatMan Player of the Week for week four of the regular season, just six days after Mama set the league record for points in regulation in a win over Bucks Gaming.
Blazer5 Gaming (4-1) went 1-1 in week four, defeating Bucks Gaming and falling to Jazz Gaming. Their story of the week, however, was Mama’s record-setting performance, scoring 77 points against the Bucks—71 through three quarters—in a game that seemed as if the league’s all-time single-game scoring record, 84, would be broken.
It’s the second Player of the Week award for Mama, who also won in week two. Raptors Uprising point guard Kenny Got Work is the only other player to win the award this season, taking home the honor in weeks one and three. The award marks the conclusion of a terrific month for the Blazer5 Gaming star, as Mama also secured an endorsement from Point3 Hoops.
Mama was the only point guard on the ballot for week four, besting two centers in Goofy and oLarry, as well as rookie lockdown defender Crush. Fan voting accounts for 50 percent of the vote to determine the weekly winner. NBA 2K League teams and officials each account for an additional 25 percent of the vote. The same voting structure holds true for the Player of the Month selection at the end of each month.
