The NBA 2K League has hired Matt Arden as its Head of Content and Media, a high-level position previously held by Sam Asfahani.
The league listed an opening for the job after Sam Asfahani left to start his own company, O2 Studios. A minimum of eight years of experience was listed as a requirement for the position, which focuses on league content strategy, creation and distribution.
Arden worked for Turner (Turner Broadcasting Systems) for 11 years, starting as a video editor on Sports Illustrated content before departing in September 2011 as Senior Creative Content Producer – Digital/New Media. Most recently, he spent six years at Screenvision Media before departing as Senior Vice President of Brand Creative, Programming, & Innovation.
The league heads into season two after strengthening its viewership during season one, especially during the inaugural NBA 2K League finals. The league’s flagship Twitch show, The Post Up, is struggling at four episodes in. Arden will likely have an impact on the show beginning with the sixth episode, to air in mid-January. Until then, he’ll have to worry about the season two draft and gameplay production.
