Dear DIMER Readership,
We write to you to provide an update on the status of DIMER. As of now, DIMER is officially on hiatus for the foreseeable future. While we may continue to provide written content on the site in some capacity, DIMER—as has perhaps been apparent over the last several months—is putting its digital content, news and most of its editorial content on hold.
While it is disappointing to come to this decision on the eve of the league’s third season, a number of circumstances outside of our control have led to this. It is because of these circumstances that the quality and quantity of our output in recent months has not been up to the standard we set and expect for ourselves. Our hiatus will be used to evaluate and address the combination of a lack of output from DIMER and a lack of 2K community demand for NBA 2K League news and content.
DIMER has been around since the league began and has attended nearly every draft, Finals and key moment in NBA 2K League history. We are proud to know that in small but significant ways it has had a meaningful impact on the league throughout its tenure. While some DIMER staffers have found positions in the league, full-time or otherwise, DIMER has never profited or derived any monetary benefit throughout its existence. The uniting factor that distinguished DIMER was the news and content creation for its own sake, the written and production standards which we set for ourselves, and the successful longevity of the enterprise as a whole.
The NBA 2K and Pro-Am communities are very complex, and eventually they will face a crossroads. We encourage those who take to Twitter daily to participate in the community, however they choose to do so, to evaluate their desires and priorities as they pertain to 2K and the league, and to support deserving 2K and 2K League content generously, constructively and positively.
Thank you to our diverse contributors throughout the past two years for your work, from Ricco in the early days to our latest crop of contributors such as Thomas Lynch, Boneman9000, JDillon, Rux and Jim. Thank you especially to Len, who deservedly earned the Gen.G coaching job this season after becoming a very capable and integral part of our staff, and, most importantly, a close friend. Thank you especially to all the readers and supporters of the site, without whom it would not have been worthwhile.
