NBA 2K League Managing Director Brendan Donohue hosted a periscope Wednesday afternoon to discuss about some important combine details.
Most notably, he announced the official start date for the combine.
The combine is set to begin on Monday, November 18th and run until Monday, December 9th.
He also announced the league’s decision to add more set archetypes at each position this year. The last two years, each position was capped at 5 set archetypes. This year the number has risen to 8 set archetypes for each position. Nothing was said as to what specific archetypes we can expect on the league build this year, yet.
Nothing was officially said as to specific time windows during the combine but he did mention that information will be announced soon. In years past, there were typically two separate windows per day—one earlier in the day and one later in the evening—so it could be similar again this year.
Donohue also said that more information will be announced as to how many games will be needed to qualify for a position this year. Last year we saw the number go from 40 to 25 as the matchmaking issues caused a concern about player’s ability to play a sufficient number of games. It is worth noting that the qualifying numbers for the combine were dropped to 50 wins and 50% win percentage (similar to season one), so there may not be as many matchmaking issues facing participants this year.
Be sure to keep a look out for more information pertaining to the combine in the coming days/weeks.
