The NBA 2K League has finalized its contract structure for season two.
The conditional contract specifies a contract length of March 5 to Aug. 31. The NBA 2K League entry draft will take place on March 5 and the season will finish no later than Aug. 31. Last season, the league held the entry draft on April 4 and began season play with the Tipoff tournament on May 1.
The league will pay retained players a base salary of $37,000 over six months. First-round picks in the 2019 NBA 2K League Entry Draft will receive $35,000 in base salary, the same rate as last year’s first-round picks. Players picked after the first round, or signed to teams later in the year, will earn $33,000. Players picked after the first round last season earned a base salary of $32,000.
Players can also earn further income through success in tournaments and the playoffs. Last season, Knicks Gaming first-round pick Goofy757 earned just under $100,000 over six months, per the Oregonian. Players can also earn money through individual or team endorsement deals. Teams also supply housing and benefit packages (including medical and retirement plans) for each player.
The contract structure also makes mention of a potential league All-Star game. While the league conducted no All-Star game in season one, it did host a celebrity showcase game with top league point guards leading teams composed of celebrities and influencers.
