In a blockbuster move, Hawks Talon GC has traded Dat Boy Shotz, the 3rd overall pick and a second-round pick in the NBA 2K League 2020 entry draft to Kings Guard Gaming in exchange for BP, a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick, sources told DIMER. The league has confirmed the trade.
The move is perhaps the biggest in league history. The current highest-traded draft pick was the 4th overall selection in the 2019 entry draft, sent from Pacers Gaming to Pistons GT for Lets Get It Ramo last offseason.
Adding to that, BP was the presumed Rookie of the Year runner-up behind Reizey in season two, averaging 19.3 points per game and 7.9 assists per game on 51.4% shooting from the field and 48.5% from beyond the arc in his debut campaign with the Kings.
Shotz, selected with the first pick in the 2019 expansion draft, averaged 16.6 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game and 2.2 steals per game playing multiple positions, but most notably at power forward, popularizing the shot-creating post scorer archetype.
It’s an aggressive move by Hawks Talon GC, who struggled at the point guard position in their debut campaign as they went 5-11 following a 4-3 start. First-round pick DevGoss, second-round pick Rando and MrStylez, acquired midseason in exchange for DevGoss, all gave extended efforts at the position with mixed results. The trade gives the team the franchise point guard it had been seeking. BP had requested a trade from Kings Guard before the start of season two, and stated his desire to play for a team on the east coast.
For the Kings, they now have a plethora of assets heading into the entry draft. Shotz, who had requested out of Atlanta this month, joins protected players BallLikeSeem and Yusuf Scarbz, plus the 3rd overall pick, 17th overall pick and 27th overall pick in the 2020 draft. Needless to say, the outlook is good in Sacramento.
