Jacob “Procis1on” Walls is as competitive a prospect as you’ll get in the inaugural NBA 2K League draft. The 25-year-old from Chicago, IL is a former Gears of War 2 pro, having placed top-8 in multiple MLG events, and has a history of competing in NBA 2K GameBattles and MPBA competitions. As a shooting guard in the combine, Procis1on put up 25 points per game and 5.6 assists per game, shooting 62% from the field and 56% from beyond the arc. Among his most impressive stats is an 80.37% effective field goal percentage, the best among all shooting guards who submitted stats to NBA 2K Lab (you can find all of Procis1ion’s stats on NBA 2K Lab here). Procis1on recently announced he has been invited to the NBA 2K League draft at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 4.
DIMER caught up with Procis1on to ask him a few questions about his professional gaming experience and his future in the NBA 2K League.
Where were you when you got the call that you made the league? What were you thinking and feeling as you answered the phone and realized that it was the NBA 2K League telling you that you had made it in?
I was actually sitting in front of my computer rapidly refreshing Twitter. Before I received the official call from the league, I actually received a call from a wrong number and I wouldn’t let them hang up until I was totally sure that they had the wrong number. When I finally received the call from the league, I was very relieved to know that one of my dreams was one step closer to becoming a reality.
What kind of emotions are you anticipating when you hear your name called on draft night?
I don’t really know, to be honest. For some reason, in the moment, I don’t typically show a lot of emotions. However, I’m sure it will definitely hit me later on that day that I’m about to move away from Chicago for the first time in my life and embark on my dream of playing in the NBA 2K League.
Who are some other players who made the draft pool that you would want to team up with in the NBA 2K League, and why?
This is a super tough question as there are a ton of players in the draft who are really skilled and that I would love to work with. Just to keep it simple, I would say that any of the players on my recent championship-winning MPBA MIT team, LYKaPRO, oLARRYSR or Detoxys. They are all really good teammates; and, if the opportunity presents itself, I would definitely be excited to play with any of them again.
You already have professional gaming experience as a former Gears of War pro. How do you think that’s going to benefit you in the league?
It’s a whole different experience playing at a live LAN than even the biggest games at home. It is something that you can’t really prepare for, as you really just need to go through the experience to get used to playing in a live atmosphere. I do believe that my prior experience on the competitive gaming stage will help me a great deal.
What are your personal goals for the first season in the league? What are your personal long-term goals in the league and with NBA 2K?
The biggest and most important thing for me is winning. Even though I’m lucky enough to get paid to play a game that I love, I never want it to feel like it’s a job. I’m a very competitive person, so if my team isn’t winning consistently, it will really bother me to the point that I might lose sleep over it. I hope I can prove that I’m a winner that teams can rely on in the clutch and prove to the competition that I belong in the league long-term.
What kind of person and player would a team be getting if they drafted you?
I’m known as someone who is completely driven and committed to being the best player and teammate that I can be. I’m ready to go the extra mile and do everything in my power to not just better myself but also the team as well.
