Knicks Gaming traded center Goofy757 in another blockbuster move to Grizz Gaming for Memphis’ 2020 first- and second-round picks, as well as Memphis’ 2021 first-round pick, the teams announced today. The Knicks will also send their 2020 third round and 2021 second round picks.
After a disappointing season two where the team missed the playoffs following its season one championship, and an official retirement from point guard iamadamthe1st, Knicks Gaming looked primed for a rebuild this offseason. This move only solidifies the notion more as they head into the 2020 entry draft with two first-round picks and two second-round picks and sharpshooter Original Malik on the roster.
Goofy was the team’s first-ever player, selected 9th overall in the inaugural NBA 2K League entry draft. After starting season one at power forward, he was eventually moved to center, playing an integral part in the team’s miracle season one Ticket run and eventual Finals victory over Heat Check Gaming.
Grizz Gaming on the other hand makes a power move to solidify its core three of Vandi, AuthenticAfrican and now Goofy. While AuthenticAfrican has manned the low block for two seasons in Memphis, the versatile player has spent his Pro-Am time playing as a secondary ball-handler this offseason, opening the way for Goofy to command the paint.
It’s one of, if not the biggest move in league history by Grizz Gaming. This is both the most picks exchanged for a single player and the first time a team has traded future draft picks.
The team has failed to make the postseason in both seasons, coming up just short last year after finishing eighth in the standings but losing playoffs qualification to Ticket winners Warriors Gaming Squad.
