Magic Gaming has partnered with Full Sail University, becoming the first NBA 2K League team to form an exclusive partner with a university.
The team will feature Full Sail University in various positions on the Magic Gaming virtual court. The partners will work together to create collaborative digital content to be displayed at Magic Gaming’s practice studio and Full Sail University’s new esports facility. The deal also looks to provide the Orlando community with further esports opportunities.
Magic Gaming has a strong history of forming unique partnerships, led by partnerships coordinator Gabriel Causse. In August, the team partnered with AS Monaco football club, becoming the first NBA 2K League team to partner with a professional sports team outside of North America. The team’s other sponsorships include VR company CEEK, Boxed Water and the recently announced Orlando Health jersey sponsor.
“Magic Gaming is thrilled to join forces with Full Sail University,” said Director of Magic Gaming Ryan DeVos. “With Full Sail’s vast experience and knowledge in the digital realm, we’re excited about the opportunity to grow our brands and reach even more fans.”
Full Sail University, which focuses on media and technology careers, recently unveiled a new practice facility named Fortress Sports Arena. “The Fortress,” as it is affectionately known, reportedly at a cost of $6 million, boasts a 500-spectator capacity in the 11,200-square-foot arena. The university competes across a wide variety of esports under the nickname “Armada.”
“In partnering with Magic Gaming, we look forward to the educational and career opportunities this will bring to our students and alumni,” said Full Sail University COO Ken Goldstone. “With the growth of our university’s esports initiatives with professional partners and with our collegiate team, Armada, we are excited to join Magic Gaming to further elevate Orlando and our region as an esports industry leader.”
Magic Gaming, led by head coach Jonah Edwards, sits 2-3 in the NBA 2K League regular season after going 2-1 in the Tipoff Tournament.
