The NBA 2K League has revealed the $1.2 million (USD) prize pool for season two, up $200,000 from season one.
The video also confirms the return of the “Trefecta” banner chain, comprising three in-season tournaments: the Tip-Off, Turn, and Ticket tournaments. Last year, 76ers GC won the Tip-Off tournament, Blazer5 Gaming won the Turn, and Knicks Gaming earned their spot in the NBA 2K League playoffs with a victory in the Ticket tournament.
Here’s the payout structure:
- The Tip-Off: $120K ($100K last season)
- The Turn: $180K ($150K last season)
- The Ticket: $180K ($150K last season)
- NBA 2K League Playoffs: $720K (champions receive $360,000)
The prize pool increase comes in consideration of the addition of 4 new teams and Champion Athleticwear as a major partner. The playoff prize pool now nearly matches the buy-in fee for an NBA 2K League franchise ($750,000). The playoff prize pool saw the largest increase, adding $120,000 to the pot. Champions will take home an extra $60,000 this season.
The NBA 2K League also revealed its player contract structure. With this increase in tournament and postseason prize money, expect several players to eclipse the $100,000 mark for the sixth-month season.
