Hawks Talon GC revealed its logo and team branding identity on Twitter, becoming the first of four NBA 2K League expansion teams to do so.
The Atlanta Hawks, alongside the Brooklyn Nets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Los Angeles Lakers, joined the NBA 2K League as expansion teams for the 2019 season.
Hawks Talon GC selected former Blazer5 Gaming forward DatBoyShotz with the first overall pick in the expansion draft, and chose former Celtics Crossover Gaming center Arsonal X with the final pick in the two-round, snake-style draft.
The design was a collaboration between Atlanta resident Scott Fuller, Designer and Owner of The Studio Temporary, and Sr. Director of Creative for the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, Shirley Zhang.
“I wanted to embody Atlanta’s bold identity, competitiveness, fearless nature, and iconic hustle and grind into a contemporary logo that both casual and competitive fans could own,” Fuller said.”
The team announced yesterday that it had hired Wesley Acuff, former employee at Turner Sports in Atlanta and an accomplished NBA 2K player, to serve as team manager and head coach. The Hawks also hired Wayne Bryant as their digital content coordinator.
There’s no word yet on when the other expansion teams will reveal their logos, but it’s expected to come soon. Teams are required to submit their logos to the NBA 2K League for approval before revealing them to the public.
