It’s a far cry from 2018, the league’s first season, when the Raptors rode a 7-1 finish to an 8-6 record and the No. 4 seed. The team is the quickest in league history to qualify for a playoff spot, doing so just eight weeks into the season, before the midseason Turn Tournament. Raptors Uprising’s 12-0 start to the season is the best start to a season in league history, topping Mavs Gaming’s 10-0 start in 2019. The Raptors also won the Tipoff Tournament (held, due to the pandemic, in midseason), the team’s first trophy.
In addition to team success, Raptors Uprising players have enjoyed plenty of success individually. Kenny, the team’s only holdover from its 2018 playoff berth, is the clearcut MVP choice, at this point likely a unanimous selection. Center Sick One leads the league in triple-doubles, while TimelyCook, the No. 11 pick in the 2020 draft, holds the record for most points ever scored by a lockdown in a single game (39).
The win over Gen.G was the team’s second cash game victory, twice winning $2,500 in addition to their Tipoff prize money, and the squad is likely to collect an additional $2,500 for averaging the most points per game across their two cash series. The Raptors have four more games and another tournament with which to line their pockets and prepare for the playoffs that have long seemed a certainty and are now officially so.
