The NBA 2K League’s remote play system has generall been a success through five weeks of play, and with most teams having played the equivalent of a 16-game season, clear risers and fallers are emerging from the pack. We’re ranking each team based on a number of factors: results, quality of play, strength of schedule and so on. Results aren’t everything, otherwise we’d just copy and paste the league standings into here.
23. 76ers GC (0-6)
Last Week: 22
We are going to keep pushing the “Pre-Bye” and “Post-Bye” 76ers agenda just in case Philadelphia returns as a different beast; it’s been a while since the 76ers played.
22. Celtics Crossover Gaming (0-5)
Last Week: 17
It was a week to forget for Celtics Crossover after going 0-3, and, arguably more significantly, becoming the first team to lose to Lakers Gaming. The next step for Boston will be figuring how to overcome its Game 3 woes.
21. Lakers Gaming (1-8)
Last Week: 23
The Lakers are no longer members of the winless club, earning a much-needed confidence booster by defeating the Celtics. Can they preserve this momentum during the bye week?
20. Pistons GT (1-5)
Last Week: 19
The Pistons struggled to close out elimination games in both of their matchups this past week. The inconsistent play has led to a mixed bag of blowouts and close losses.
19. Heat Check Gaming (1-5)
Last Week: 20
Controversy over a spread put Miami in an awkward position during the final moments of its game against NetsGC. We won’t get to see how the Heat will recover until after their bye week.
18. Magic Gaming (1-4)
Last Week: 15
Despite dropping in our rankings every week, we’re not quite ready to count Orlando out just yet. Beating the Bucks and taking Cavs Legion to three games proves they are in the right spot in the rankings. We’ll know more about Orlando soon enough.
17. Pacers Gaming (3-3)
Last Week: 16
Despite their recent success, we’ve held the Pacers’ wins against them in our rankings. But with games against the T-Wolves and Bucks up next, it’ll be interesting to see where this team is a week from now.
16. Grizz Gaming (3-4)
Last Week: 21
During this winning streak, Vandi found his shooting stroke and AuthenticAfrican proved a reliable secondary option. Memphis has now beaten Los Angeles, Boston, and Detroit. A signature win against T-Wolves Gaming would vault them up the rankings next week.
15. Cavs Legion (3-4)
Last Week: 14
Cavs Legion enter its bye week after a convincing win over Pistons GT. Doza re-entered the lineup and shot well, and oLarry continues to flirt with triple doubles over the last few matchups.
14. Bucks Gaming (2-4)
Last Week: 13
While it’s certainly not a make-or-break type of week for the Bucks, they’ll likely need to sweep their two matchups in week five to silence critics. If anything, it’ll do wonders for their confidence to get to the halfway mark at .500.
13. Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai (3-4)
Last Week: 11
Gen.G is going through the trials and tribulations of an expansion team in its first season. A talented but inconsistent roster has resulted in flashes of brilliance sandwiched in between mental lapses.
12. NetsGC (3-2)
Last Week: 18
With their four-game gauntlet over, the Nets have finally caught up to the rest of the league. For a team that was thrown into the fire, Brooklyn has shown impressive chemistry early on, through three wins over teams with a combined two victories isn’t enough to push them into the top 10 quite yet.
11. Knicks Gaming (4-4)
Last Week: 12
When the Knicks are firing on all cylinders, they can keep up with just about anyone. While Duck, Malik, and Rob form an impressive trio, BigRim and EhTruth have done the dirty work all season. Their efficiency on the offensive end has also been important.
10. Blazer5 Gaming (4-3)
Last Week: 7
While Mama’s brand is stronger than ever, Portland is now entering uncharted waters with a record of 4-3. It’ll be interesting to see if Blazer5 continues to tinker with the lineup moving forward.
9. Jazz Gaming (3-1)
Last Week: 10
The Jazz may be one of the most complete teams in the entire league. A sweep of Warriors Gaming Squad and Hornets Venom GT would put the other 22 teams on notice.
8. Hornets Venom GT (4-2)
Last Week: 8
Type was nominated for player of the month, while Zae showed off his media training—a successful bye week for Hornets Venom GT.
7. Hawks Talon GC (3-2)
Last Week: 4
It has been awhile since we’ve seen Hawks Talon in action, but a riveting matchup between BP and Brooklyn’s Choc should pull in impressive viewership numbers this week. The Hawks’ point guard had a lot to say on social media recently, and will now have the chance to back it up.
6. Kings Guard Gaming (5-2)
Last Week: 9
It has become increasingly difficult to ignore what’s happening in Sacramento. There may not be a single weakness on this team, which makes Kings Guard challenging to game plan for. The Kings were able to limit Blazer5 to 22 points in one half after holding the Jazz to a record-low seven in the first half.
5. Mavs Gaming (5-2)
Last Week: 6
After a 4-0 start to the season, Dallas has been pushed to the side in the last few weeks. It will be interesting to see how Mavs Gaming fares against Detroit and Washington after returning from a bye week.
4. T-Wolves Gaming (5-1)
Last Week: 5
The defending champions watched from the sidelines during week five’s action, but return to the virtual hardwood with a pair of games. No one would be surprised if the T-Wolves extended their winning streak to seven games by next weekend, with their only loss coming to Atlanta.
3. Wizards District Gaming (5-1)
Last Week: 3
The current big three of the NBA 2K League begins with the boys in Washington. In a parallel universe, the Wizards were able to finish off the Raptors and thus are still undefeated.
2. Warriors Gaming Squad (6-0)
Last Week: 2
The Warriors are no longer just a tournament team. Eliminating Blazer5 from last year’s playoffs has seemingly unlocked another level, and a potential juggernaut “Battle of the Undefeateds” is still a possibility.
1. Raptors Uprising GC (7-0)
Last Week: 1
Toronto has shown an uncanny ability to flip the switch whenever it has been challenged. The remaining question is whether or not this team has another gear they are saving.
