The NBA 2K League will host an NBA 2K League Showcase series featuring celebrities, content creators, and NBA 2K League players for the second consecutive year, the league announced.
The showcase will take place on Friday, August 2 beginning at 7 p.m. ET, the day before the 2019 NBA 2K League Finals, at the NBA 2K League Studio in Long Island City, New York. Confirmed participants include former NFL player Jeremy Maclin (a competitive NBA 2K player who has hosted 2K tournaments previously), music artist Ponce De’Leioun, content creator FlightReacts, content creator SGK7 (who attended the NBA 2K League Ticket Tournament in Orlando earlier this year) and content creator GirlGamerChas.

On July 23, the league revealed more showcase participants, including actor/Knicks Gaming head scout Jerry Ferrera, and musician Dash Flash. More participants, and the NBA 2K League players participating in the showcase, will be revealed in the coming week.
Content creators and players will be split into four teams of five. All games will be livestreamed similar to NBA 2K League games on Twitch and YouTube. The schedule for the Showcase is as follows:
7-8 p.m. ET Semifinal #1
8-9 p.m. ET Semifinal #2
9-10 p.m. ET NBA 2K League Showcase Finals
It’s unclear which players will participate in this year’s Showcase. Since the NBA 2K League Finals are the following day, one possibility is that the event may be similar to the NFL’s Pro Bowl, wherein Finals contestants do not participate. The league has not released further information on the players or other celebrities yet.
Last year, the Showcase featured 7-time NBA Champion Robert Horry, as well as former NBA champion-turned-media personality Brian Scalabrine. Ronnie 2K, the community ambassador for NBA 2K, participated, as well as A$AP Twelvyy, an accomplished hip hop artist who is part of A$AP Mob, a group with multiple top 10 albums on the US R&B / Hip Hop charts.
Four NBA 2K League players (iamdamathe1st of Knicks Gaming, Mavs Gaming’s Dimez, oFab of Celtics Crossover Gaming, and Jazz Gaming’s Compete) coached and played on teams throughout the tournament. Team iamadamthe1st defeated Team oFAB 90-75 in the Showcase Final.
Tickets to the NBA 2K League Showcase are free, and fans can reserve tickets by visiting the tickets link on the league website. Doors will open at 5 p.m. ET. Fans in attendance can also meet various NBA 2K League players and play interactive games, from Pop-A-Shot to modern arcade games.
