T-Wolves Gaming has hired Max Minsker, co-founder of 2k Analytics, as its team manager. According to the team, Minsker will oversee the GM, Coach, and content teams.
Minsker and 2k Analytics helped draft for T-Wolves Gaming at the NBA 2K League expansion draft. The T-Wolves swung a major trade to land scoring phenom Hood form Cavs Legion GC in exchange the third overall pick (oLarry). Hood finished the 2018 second in the league in scoring, averaging 29.2 points per game primarily at forward and point guard as the Cavs advanced to the semifinals. T-Wolves Gaming also selected two-way forward iFeast, formerly of 76ers GC with the sixth overall pick.
The expansion team hired Shawn Vilvens, a coach at Cincinnati Christian University, as head coach and general manager last year. The T-Wolves also released detailed renderings of their training facility, scheduled to be completed in time for the season. The facility will be located in the Mao Clinic Square in Minneapolis, where the Timberwolves and WNBA’s Lynx teams are also headquartered.
“I’m excited about the opportunity the Timberwolves have given me, and this is a big step in the much larger plan that hatched at 2K Analytics a year ago,” Minsker told DIMER. “There are so many things left for me and the team to accomplish and I’m excited to get started. The 2K League has a huge opportunity for growth, and one of the main vehicles for it is the creativity of individual teams and content creators in the community.
At the team level, we need to build out a platform that can sustain meaningful engagement and that’s a long term project. With Hood, Feast, Shawn and the management team here we have about as strong of a foundation as you can get, but I don’t take anything for granted. We have our work cut out for us and we will rise to the challenge. Big things are coming.”
