NAPX will feature one player weekly from each console to be our Spotlight Player. These players were not in the NBA 2K League last season but have stood out from the rest as exceptional talents so far in 2K19. Our first-ever Spotlight Player from PS4 is Eddy Perez, aka “BOHIO,” point guard for Direwolves.
Eddy has been playing 2K since 2K10 and started on the competitive scene in 2K16. He has played for teams such as The Unit, Showtime BD, and has been with the Direwolves since 2K18. He has competed in the WR, MPBA, and HD leagues and was awarded All-Star honors in all three, along with winning a Militia Gaming tournament with the Direwolves in 2K18.
I caught up with Eddy to ask him some questions about his 2K career, 2K19 so far, and his goals and outlook on making the NBA 2K League.
NAPX: You have had some big games and big wins so far already in 2K19, which game do you feel you had your best performance?
BOHIO: My best game so far this year was against Lyfestyle. [83-58 W, 29pts, 10ast, 0 TO]
NAPX: Who is your favorite player / team to matchup against and why?
BOHIO: My favorite player to match up against is iTz_Radiant, I have played against him since 2K16 and in my opinion he is the best player I have ever played. My favorite team to match up against is The World Gaming because PLAYOFFZAR and I have this super trash talk between the teams and I love it.
NAPX: With Lockdowns playing a big role this year who do you feel has given you the most trouble as an opposing lock, if any?
BOHIO: The lock that gave me the most trouble is no doubt EliNeverFolds. I feel like he is really good at pressing but not getting beat and he gave me the most issues. He is definitely one of the best.
NAPX: I assume the ultimate goal is making the NBA 2K League this year. What do you feel you would bring to the table for a NBA 2K League team, and why should you be drafted? What drives you to make the league and what would being drafted mean to you?
BOHIO: What I bring to the table for a NBA 2K league team is leadership, hard work and of course my talent. I am a player who can play 1-5 at the highest level but above all a great teammate. I value being a great teammate greatly.
I think I should be drafted because I love this game and I love playing competitively at the highest level. I think I bring a different element to a team. Whenever I join a team I feel like I can change the mindset of a team with my leadership and drive my teammates to win.
Being drafted would mean everything to me, because then I can help my parents financially while doing the thing I love doing the most.
NAPX: Which NBA 2K league team do you feel you would be a best fit for currently, and why?
BOHIO: I feel I can fit great with a bunch of teams, but there are two specific teams I feel that I can fit the best with: Heat Check Gaming and Pacers Gaming. I feel both teams have great cores that are championship ready, but I feel they both just need a PG who can push them over the top. For the Pacers core I feel Ramo, Wolf, and Swizz are arguably the best sharp, lock and power forward in the league respectively. Also, with the energy Ramo and Wolf bring they can motivate anyone and I feel I would fit that spot perfectly.
As for Miami, I lived there for 7 years and I love the cultural complexion that Miami brings. With Hotshot and I being Hispanic I feel we can bring in a bunch of fans. As for on the court, you have Majestic who is the most versatile player in the world, Dropoff whose IQ is off the charts, and Hotshot is the best center in the game. No matter who Heat Check Gaming gets they will be a top contender in my opinion. I feel like my skillset and leadership could no doubt bring either team a championship.
