Season two champions T-Wolves Gaming officially announced the hirings of Nick Gartrelle as assistant coach and Nick Restifo as assistant general manager.
Both hires are to help current Head Coach and General Manager Justin Butler, who will enter his second season in both roles after taking over for Shawn Vilvens in the middle of the 2019 season, the team’s first in the league.
Gartrelle is no stranger to the NBA 2K League. He worked with Nets Gaming Crew in season two as a draft consultant, where he assisted with compiling draft reports, scouting opponents and analyzing film.
Restifo currently works with the Timberwolves organization as senior basketball operations analyst. The team also brought him on board to assist with all managing duties, specifically coordinating the team’s draft efforts and aiding in personnel decisions. This will be Restifo’s first year in the NBA 2K League.
“We are glad to be adding both Nick G. and Nick R. to our staff this season” said Butler. “These additions will help us continue the momentum created in our inaugural season and as current NBA 2K League Champions. We are looking forward to utilizing their experience to build and develop a championship-contending team this season.”
T-Wolves Gaming will begin its efforts in repeating as champions at the NBA 2K League 2020 entry draft, where they have the 22nd overall pick and the draft’s final selection. The team lost lockdown starter Turnupdefense to Gen.G in the expansion draft.
