Raptors Uprising GC has traded point guard Doza to Cavs Legion GC in exchange for the an NBA 2K League 2020 entry draft second-round pick, the teams announced today.
Doza, selected 15th overall by the Raptors in the season two entry draft, averaged 11 points and 6 assists per game in his second season in the league. He spent his debut campaign manning the point for Pistons GT, who elected not to retain him following season one.
Cavs Legion looked to be headed into the season three entry draft in need of a point guard, with Strainer selected in the expansion draft by Hornets Venom GT and 2019 first-round pick LykaPro out of favor since his four-game suspension in the middle of the season. Without a high draft pick in 2020, and plenty of point guard-needy teams ahead of them in the order, the move for Doza is a proactive one to fill the gap at the 1.
The move also reunites him with former teammate All Hail Trey, whom Raptors Uprising traded to Cavs Legion in the mid-season window of the 2019 season.
The Legion will carry a lineup of oLarry, Godddof2K, AllHailTrey and Doza into the season three entry draft.
For the Raptors, it’s a move up in the entry draft. The team decided not to protect Doza heading into the expansion draft, making the move a retain-and-trade: they’ll forfeit their fourth-round draft pick for the retention of Doza, then get the second-round pick from the Cavs.
The team protected Kenny and Sick, who remain the only two players on the roster as it stands.
