After 17 weeks of regular season, tournament and playoffs play, the 2019 NBA 2K League finals are set.
League powerhouse 76ers GC will take on expansion franchise T-Wolves Gaming in Long Island City on Saturday, August 3, after both teams swept both of their opponents in the quarterfinals and semifinals this week.
The first game of the best-of-five series will tip off at 3 p.m. ET with subsequent games to begin immediately after. Game five, if necessary, will start at 7 p.m. It will be the first playoff finals appearance for both organizations.
No. 3 seed 76ers GC took down Pacers Gaming in the quarterfinals on Thursday with 55-50 and 69-55 wins. Philly would also sweep Celtics Crossover Gaming in the semifinals by scores of 55-51 and 96-59.
No. 4 seed T-Wolves Gaming, who started the season 3-6 before rattling off seven straight wins to secure a playoff spot, defeated Kings Guard Gaming in two, 64-51 and 56-49. The season two expansion team then swept Turn and Ticket champs Warriors Gaming Squad with 71-53 and 68-46 victories.
Point guards and defense will be the theme of these finals. Radiant and BearDaBeast of 76ers GC and T-Wolves Gaming, respectively, have each put on a show in the playoffs so far.
Meanwhile, defensive stalwarts like Feast and BreadWinnerLA will be put to the test trying to defend the pick and roll.
It will be quite a moment for the aforementioned Feast, who was drafted by the 76ers in season one. The big man went unprotected after the team fell in the semifinals of last year’s playoffs and was snatched up by T-Wolves Gaming with the sixth pick in the expansion draft.
