It’s almost time for another week of NBA 2K League action, and you know what that means: power rankings. In an attempt to make everyone angry sort through what should be a competitive season, we’ll be ranking each team based on a number of factors: results, quality of play, strength of schedule and so on. Results aren’t everything, otherwise we’d just copy and paste the league standings into here.
These are a composite ranking of our three writers’ own rankings, aggregated into one. Let’s get to it.
21. Wizards District Gaming, (0-4 regular season record, 1-6 overall record), last week: 21
Currently on a six-game losing streak, there has been nothing to indicate that this team is close to turning it around.
20. Grizz Gaming, (1-4, 1-7), LW: 17
It was nice being out of the bottom two for a week, but Grizz Gaming is back down near the basement with only its win over Bucks Gaming to cling to.
19. Lakers Gaming, (1-4, 2-6), LW: 19
Benching Kev probably indicates this team didn’t take the Turn all that seriously. Even still, Knicks Gaming handled them comfortably.
18. Pistons GT, (1-4, 1-7), LW: 18
That week two win against Bucks Gaming looks more and more like an anomaly every week. Time to see what this team looks like with DevGoss in the lineup.
17. Nets GC, (2-4, 3-6), LW: 15
Not sure what happened to this team, but going from 2-0 to being held to only 39 points in the Turn is not the trajectory any team wants to take. Time to get back on track with a game against the Lakers this week.
16. Knicks Gaming, (1-4, 3-6), LW: 20
Last year’s Cinderella continues to place more hope in its ability to flip the switch in the Ticket with each and every week.
15. Cavs Legion GC, (3-3, 4-5), LW: 12
All Hail Trey should fit in quite nicely with this team. Now it’s time to show that they can consistently win and play up to their talent, rather than this roller-coastering they’ve been doing all season.
14. Magic Gaming, (2-3, 5-6), LW: 11
Trade rumors surround this team as it tries to get back on track. The good news is that Reizy finally looks like the point guard Magic Gaming believed he could be.
13. T-Wolves Gaming, (2-4, 6-6), LW: 16
An impressive run in the Turn, that probably shouldn’t have ended as soon as it did (blowing giant leads will do that). How this team fits JMoney into the lineup moving forward is the question of the day.
12. Raptors Uprising GC, (2-3, 4-6), LW: 13
Went out and got a great player and leader in Sick. It’s not obvious how they’ll deploy him on the court, but the Raptors obviously have a vision. Now it’s time to make something shake.
11. Celtics Crossover Gaming, (1-4, 7-6), LW: 14
It’s so hard to quit on this team. They’re so talented, but then they go 1-4 in the regular season, but then they beat the Pacers in a tournament AGAIN. Who the hell knows anymore?
10. Hawks Talon GC, (3-2, 3-5), LW: 10
A nice pickup in MrStylez, who makes the Hawks’ backcourt configuration much easier to manage. They’ll need a better version of the point guard than what he showed in Detroit, though.
9. Kings Guard Gaming, (4-2, 5-5), LW: 8
Didn’t do bad at the Turn, but there may be some trouble brewing. Keep an eye on how this team reacts with a tough slate against the Pacers and Bucks this week.
8. Heat Check Gaming, (3-2, 5-5), LW: 7
The acquisition of Hood is a high-ceiling move. The biggest question is how will he do at point guard. If it works out, then this will be a much smoother season for the Heat.
7. Jazz Gaming, (3-2, 6-4), LW: 9
Finally looking like the team they should be. An impressive semifinals run at the Turn cut short by a hot Warriors team. Look out if the Jazz reach their full potential.
6. Bucks Gaming, (4-2, 7-5), LW: 6
Made it to the semifinals, but it’s tough to move up at this point in the rankings. The Bucks have a tricky test against the Kings before facing off against the Wizards in week five.
5. Pacers Gaming, (4-0, 6-2), LW: 2
There’s no other way to describe the Pacers’ loss to the Celtics in the first round than “disappointing.” Not the result you want before playing the Kings and Heat in the same night.
4. Mavs Gaming, (7-0, 9-2), LW: 4
Handled business as expected against Knicks Gaming, but couldn’t get past the Warriors. The brutal part of their schedule begins in week six.
3. Blazer5 Gaming, (6-1, 7-3), LW: 1
If the Pacers’ loss was disappointing, Blazer5 losing to T-Wolves Gaming is downright tragic. A heavy favorite to defend their title, this team unexpectedly folded. But they’re still one of the elite squads in the league.
2. 76ers GC, (3-2, 11-3), LW: 3
It almost looked like the 76ers were going down a bad path with two straight losses against the Kings and Blazer5, but a finals appearance at the Turn is more than enough to say that this team will be A-okay.
1. Warriors Gaming Squad, (3-2, 8-3), LW: 5
By far the most impressive tournament run we’ve seen since the league started. Four wins against potential playoff teams, the last two of which weren’t even close. Holding 76ers GC to 39 points deserves a medal.
