Grizz Gaming (1-3) 61, Bucks Gaming (3-2) 52
It’s a lineup substitution for Grizz Gaming, who really need this one. DDouble subs in for Universal at power forward, and through the first half, it works. He’s defending ARooks well and smiling all the way. Vandi’s being more decisive, and the Bucks consequently are struggling. The Grizz aren’t allowing anything easy, and the Bucks haven’t been able to produce enough.
Halftime: Grizz Gaming 29, Bucks Gaming 22
“This is the leading scorer??” an incredulous DDouble calls out as the Grizz slam home another alley-oop on their way to the win. It’s a quality victory against the Bucks, who are now just 3-2 in the regular season and 4-4 on the year. The monkey is off the Grizz’s back, swinging away faster than momentum is twirling towards Memphis. The real difference-maker? Vandi scored 28 points and handed out 11 assists in his most decisive performance to date.
Player of the Game: Vandi; 28 points, 11 assists
Celtics Crossover Gaming (1-4) 65, NetsGC (2-4) 59
I’m going to ramble here. I’ve never seen the Celtics like this. They’re disappointed, defeatist, and they look nothing like the Celtics of yore. Fab, even when he dunks, is eerily stoic. He’s still extremely good and carrying the Celtics offensively, though Profusion is having a better day than days past. It’s a tight game, though, since the Nets—now on their fourth starting lineup of the season—haven’t been able to get any separation.
Halftime: NetsGC 29, Celtics Crossover 28
Aaaand the Celtics won. Mel got into it, Profusion got up after a big late trey, and after a wild back-and-forth turnover mish-mash in the fourth Celtics Crossover picked up its first win of the regular season. We knew it had to happen at some point, right? Fab is still one of the best point guards in the game; that was enough for a win in this one.
Player of the Game: Fab; 20 points, 12 assists
Blazer5 Gaming (5-1) 86, Knicks Gaming (1-4) 48
Oof. It was Blazer5 up by 14 after the first quarter, and the lead didn’t exactly diminish in the second quarter. The Blazers are playing like last year’s regular-season juggernauts, all over the floor. When Peroxide is shooting effectively, and when Mama is marshaling the offense perfectly—and he always is—the Blazers offense hums better than any other team’s.
Halftime: Blazer5 Gaming 45, Knicks Gaming 28
Double oof. No more needs to be said.
Player of the Game: MamaImDatMan; 32 points, 14 assists
Warriors Gaming Squad (3-1) 82, Wizards District Gaming (0-4) 43
Another massive blowout after the first quarter, with the Warriors leading 25-4. Twenty-five to four! Do teams play competitive basketball in the first quarter anymore? It’s slightly better after the second. The Warriors, a phenomenal scrimmage team, are actualizing their practice personas on the big stage, and with BSmoove scoring like a madman and Type flashing his high defensive IQ, the Warriors are just more than a match for the league’s basement dweller.
Halftime: Warriors Gaming Squad 37, Wizards District Gaming 17
On media row,
I see from my perch,
A Warriors team,
I can’t besmirch.
Jin is crushing,
His former team,
Downturned Dayfri,
Might just scream.
It’s a blowout,
Through and through,
This game’s long over,
‘Phew.
Player of the Game: BSmoove; 33 points, 5 steals
