The primary logo features a star with the letters L and A cut into the front lines of the star. The secondary logo spells LAKERS, with the LA earning speedmarks and an appearance similar to the number 19, the year of the team’s accession to the league.
The team also named Mathew Makovec GM and Head Coach. Makovec led the Lakers’ expansion draft process in September.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to take the Lakers organization in a new direction in esports with Lakers Gaming,” said Lakers Gaming General Manager/Head Coach Mathew Makovec. “Our big 3 of Mootyy, KontruL and Vert, each have had great individual success, along with season one experience. We will look to fill the rest of our roster in the draft while creating a teamwork-oriented winning environment.”
Lakers Gaming drafted former first-round picks Mootyy and KontruL with the fourth and fifth overall picks in the 2018 NBA 2K League expansion draft. The team then acquired Vert, Warriors Gaming Squad’s leading scorer, for their first-round pick (10th overall).
Other expansion teams Hawks Talon GC, Nets GC, and T-Wolves Gaming all released their logos in recent days.
